Colima, Colima.- Martes 2 de julio de 2024.- Este día fue realizada una misa y se le dio cristiana sepultura a Martha Laura Verdía Martínez, hija de Cemeí Verdía Zepeda, ex líder de las autodefensas de la costa-sierra de Michoacán, quien murió luego de un atentado a tiros sufrido la mañana del pasado lunes en la ciudad de Colima.
«No hay palabras, lamentamos lo sucedido con mi hija y pedimos que se esclarezcan los hechos, que paguen los responsables. Les pido a las autoridades estatales de Colima y de Michoacán, y a las federales que hagan su labor, ellas saben quiénes son los que nos persiguen a su servidor y a mi familia, seguimos confiando en la justicia, pero yo creo que ya estuvo bueno, se tiene que actuar», declaró Cemeí Verdía ante este medio.
Tras finalizar la lucha de autodefensas en Michoacán, Verdía Zepeda ha sufrido varios atentados contra su vida por parte de cárteles delictivos, los cuales no han tenido éxito, uno de ellos en 2019 en su huerta de papaya.
En el país es uno de los últimos ex líderes de renombre de las extintas autodefensas, fue comandante de la Policía Comunitaria de Santa María de Ostula en Aquila, Michoacán, luego apresado por delitos federales y enseguida puedo en libertad. En 2018 fue candidato de Movimiento Ciudadano a una diputación local sin obtener el triunfo, y en la actualidad tiene su residencia en Colima.
El asesinato de Martha Laura Verdía ha causado gran indignación entre reconocidos personajes de la política nacional, los cuales este martes le llamaron vía telefónica a Cemeí Verdía para expresarle sus condolencias y apoyo, situación que fue atestiguada por este reportero.
